No, going vegan won’t solve all of the world’s problems. It won’t find us a sustainable fuel alternative, or eliminate the unequal distribution of wealth in our world, or help us break our addiction to single use plastics.
But solving a lot of those bigger problems requires huge overhauls in infrastructure and a divestment of our government in the interests of a few billionaires, neither of which are going to happen overnight.
Veganism, on the other hand, is a personal choice that you can make today, and it requires no large-scale changes and no huge financial investments. In a world that’s falling apart around us, knowing that we have such a high level of agency in at least one aspect of our lives is both comforting and empowering.
